KaVo Repair Pricing

High-Speed Handpiece Rebuilds

From $ 129

KaVo turbine rebuild: new bearings, chuck inspection and O-rings, then a speed test against the MULTIflex coupling it will run on.

Low-Speed Attachments

From $ 145
KaVo low-speed heads and attachments stripped to the gear train, rebuilt as needed, and torque-tested before the housing goes back together.

Electric Handpieces

From $ 229
KaVo 25 LHA, LPA and M25 electrics: the basic rebuild replaces the shaft gear or head gear and bearings, plus springs, spacers and O-rings — then it’s tested so the console reading matches what the bur actually does.

Every quote includes parts, labor, cleaning, and a full performance test, and every repair carries our full 6-month parts and labor warranty. Prices below cover the most common KaVo repairs; see our complete pricing menu, broken out by repair type and brand, on our Services page. Whether you need high-speed handpiece repair, low-speed handpiece repair, or electric handpiece repair, our KaVo handpiece repair pricing stays flat and transparent, so you always know the cost of dental handpiece repair before you ship a unit to our bench.

Common KaVo Handpiece Repair Issues We Fix

On our bench, bearings are what fail on a KaVo. Rarely the body, rarely the chuck first — the bearings go, and everything downstream follows. Caught while it is still only a change in noise, it is a bearing job. Left until the vibration has worked on the chuck seat, it becomes a full rebuild. That is why we tell KaVo owners to act on a new sound rather than wait for lost performance.

Chuck Wear

Worn chucks let burs slip or wobble mid-procedure, which slows down every prep.

Our fix: a new turbine with a new chuck ($159), bur retention verified before it leaves our bench.

Worn Bearings

Worn bearings cause noise, vibration, or a drop in RPM that you can feel through the handpiece.

Our fix: we rebuild the turbine cartridge with new bearings and balance it so it runs quiet at full speed again.

Fiber Optic Gone Dim

The bulb on a KaVo does not live in the handpiece — it sits in the MULTIflex coupler. What is inside the handpiece is a fiber optic rod, and that clouds, chips or cracks with repeated autoclave cycles until the light reaching the bur is a fraction of what it was.

Our fix: if the light has faded gradually, it is the rod and we replace it. If it has gone out completely, check the coupler bulb first and save yourself a repair.

Water Leaks

MULTIflex coupling and swivel connector leaks lead to air and water loss, which shows up as a hiss or a slow drip at the head.

Our fix: we reseal or replace the coupling with premium parts and run it at spec pressure to confirm the seal before it ships back to you.

Loss of Cutting Power

A handpiece that spins freely in the air but bogs down in dentin has usually lost turbine efficiency or is leaking air upstream of the head.

Our fix: we rebuild the turbine, run it at manufacturer-spec pressure, and confirm the head holds torque under load rather than just sounding right off the tooth.

Overheating at the Head

Heat at the head almost always traces back to bearings running dry or debris packed into the turbine. Left alone it damages the housing seats and turns a bearing job into a full rebuild.

Our fix: we strip the head, clear the contamination, replace the bearings, and run a sustained heat check before it ships.

How to Send Us Your KaVo Handpiece

Five steps, and four of them are ours. You are running a practice, so the part you handle should take minutes.

Step 1 — you

Ask for a label

Book your repair on our Book My Repair page and a prepaid USPS label lands in your inbox the same business day — no minimum order, nothing to pay up front.

Step 2 — you

Box it up

Bubble wrap, sturdy carton, and a note with your practice name and what the handpiece is doing wrong. On a KaVo it genuinely helps to say which coupling it runs on — MULTIflex and INTRAmatic pull apart differently.

Step 3 — ours

We look, then we quote

Inspection is free. Nothing gets opened further until you have a written price in front of you and have said yes.

Step 4 — ours

We rebuild and test it

Cleaned, rebuilt, then speed, torque and spray pattern verified on the bench — and on the fiber optic models, light output checked against a known-good head.

Step 5 — ours

Back to your operatory

Back to you by UPS or FedEx — 2–3 business days on the bench, under the 6-month parts and labor warranty. Transit each way is the carrier's clock, typically a couple of days in each direction.

Frequently Asked Questions

KaVo’s MULTIflex and INTRAmatic coupling systems are built for decades of chairside use, but a handful of failure points show up again and again in daily practice: worn chucks, leaking couplings, tired bearings, and dimming fiber optics. Our technicians open every KaVo handpiece by hand and rebuild it with quality replacement parts, not generic substitutes, so fit, torque, and light output all match factory spec.

Do you repair high-speed, low-speed, and electric KaVo handpieces?

Yes. Whether it is a high-speed, low-speed or electric KaVo handpiece, every repair ships back with our full 6-month parts and labor warranty and a free diagnostic estimate up front. We send you a free prepaid USPS shipping label to get it to our office, with no minimum order value, and return it to you via UPS or FedEx. 2–3 business days on the bench. Add transit each way — typically a couple of days in each direction on the prepaid label, though that part is the carrier’s clock, not ours. We will also work on handpieces still under manufacturer warranty if you would rather not wait on the factory.

Why do practices switch to you from a big-box repair lab?

As a dedicated KaVo handpiece repair specialist, we see practices switch to us after a big-box lab strips a thread or mismatches a bearing tolerance on their first attempt. If dental handpiece repair for your KaVo equipment has been inconsistent elsewhere, our KaVo handpiece repair turnaround, quality parts, and warranty are built to fix that for good.

What's covered under the warranty?

Every KaVo repair carries a full 6-month parts and labor warranty, and you get a free diagnostic estimate before any work begins — you will never receive an invoice you did not approve first. The warranty covers the components we replaced and the labor to fit them. If something is not right when the handpiece arrives back, reach us through our contact page and we will make it right. If we determine a handpiece cannot be economically repaired, there is no repair charge at all: a flat $29 covers shipping and handling and it goes back to you.

What parts do you use on KaVo repairs?

We rebuild every handpiece to manufacturer specification, so fit, torque and light output match factory spec. That matters more on KaVo than on most brands, because the MULTIflex and INTRAmatic coupling systems are built to tight tolerances — an out-of-spec bearing or a slightly wrong chuck will run, but it will run rough and fail early. If you need specifics on the parts used for your particular model, ask through our contact page and we will tell you exactly what went into the repair.
